Max Frye of Lost Hearts

My guest Max Frye fronts the band Lost Hearts. He and his bandmates have a pop sensibility with a big rock sound.

Max comes across as humble and grounded, possibly because he’s worked with many musicians who are more experienced than himself. This is an experience we share.

Lost Hearts formed earlier this year and thus consider themselves a very new band. At their core, the band members are working musicians that have played in plenty of cover and tribute bands. They now perform and tour as an original band, although they still mix in some of their favorite covers.

In this episode, Max shares the story of how the band came to be, and their early days of songwriting together. We also talk about the band’s recent interview on Izzy Presley’s Another FN Podcast, which brought them to the attention of heavy metal champion and broadcaster Eddie Trunk, performing unreleased music, his views on pop and big choruses, release strategy, their record label search, lessons learned as a working musician, merch, the upcoming Lost Hearts performance at the Tacos & Tequila Festival in Lubbock Texas, and working toward the next level.

Please enjoy my conversation with Max Frye.

Did you know that most podcasts don’t make it past their first few episodes. That’s right, they start, they stall, and then they die. Sustaining a podcast ain’t easy. It’s a commitment.
