Crap! I was looking forward to upgrading my phone and not my MP3 player. Hypebot recently reported that ComScore’s Digital Year in Review ranked music listening as last in a list of top ten popular mobile activity activities. Maybe that’s because a mobile phone is still a phone and now an app machine, as much as it is anything having to do with music. There’s much being written about the changing trend in online music and consumer behavior, but not much of what I’ve read would lead me to believe that ComScore’s report is necessarily bad news for the mobile music space. Admittedly, I’m an odd bird when it comes to technology and what drives my purchase decisions and tech desires, favoring practicality in business model from a consumer perspective, I’m highly optimistic about mobile music. Is there reasonable opportunity in mobile music? I certainly hope so.
