I didn’t make it halfway through the Hollywood Reporter article before learning a few things about the man that was largely responsible for my becoming enamored with Rock & Roll at an early, early age. It was on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert, that I caught my first television glimpse of The Rolling Stones. It was that moment in time that made me want to play music. Today I learned that Kirshner was also the man behind the wildly successful pop music shows The Monkees and The Archies. Kirshner was also connected to well known artists that include Neil Diamond, Tony Orlando and Kansas.
Don Kirshner left his family and the music world just yesterday, at the age of 77. As I watch online and DVD music today, I often remember that Kirshner was my music video before there was MTV, DVDs or YouTube.
Thanks Don!
