Jared Judge playing violin at a concert

Jared Judge is dissecting everything that goes into being a successful gigging musician. He’s doing this on his Gigging Musician Podcast, in his book Gigging Secrets: The Underground Playbook to Making A Living Performing and with his music business app BookLive.

We think very much alike about gigging and Jared’s story is great. He graduated from music school with a Bachelors in Music Education and a Masters in Orchestral Conducting.

After graduation the advice given to Jared by his music school was to go out get auditions. Jared was ready to get to work as a musician and conductor. Auditions unfortunately proved to not be the best path forward.

Guess what Jared ended up doing? He took business classes and doing he says that doing so was game changing. Now he’s making it a good income as a gigging musician and is building a real business around his music.

In this conversation we cover private event opportunities, how Jared got his start in private events, marketing yourself as a musician, selling yourself as a musician, treating your music like a business, Jared’s book Gigging Secrets and his music business app BookLive.

I really enjoyed this conversation and have a feeling Jared and I will be keeping in touch with one another.
